Russia Warns It Will Target French Forces if Deployed to Ukraine

FALCON POWERS – Russia issued a warning to France on Wednesday, stating that if French President Emmanuel Macron were to send forces to Ukraine, the Russian military would consider them legitimate targets.

Macron sparked controversy in February when he stated that he did not rule out sending ground troops to Ukraine in the future. The French President cautioned that if Russia were to prevail in Ukraine, Europe’s credibility would plummet to zero. Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova told reporters, “It is natural for Macron to interpret his statement as a means to create a state of strategic uncertainty for Russia.”

She added, “We will disappoint his hopes, as the situation appears clear to us.”

Zakharova further stated, “If French personnel appear in the conflict zone, they will undoubtedly become targets for the Russian armed forces. It seems to me that Paris already has evidence to support this.”

Zakharova clarified that Russia has already observed an increase in the number of French nationals killed in Ukraine.

On Monday, Russia announced that it would conduct military maneuvers involving the deployment of tactical nuclear weapons in response to what Moscow claimed were threats from France, Britain, and the United States.
