Russian Deputy Defense Minister Arrested on Suspicions of Bribery

FALCON POWERS – A Russian investigative committee has reported the arrest of Deputy Defense Minister Timur Ivanov on suspicion of accepting bribes.
Law enforcement agencies, according to the TASS news agency, will seek to arrest Deputy Defense Minister Ivanov.

The press secretary of President Dmitry Peskov clarified that President Vladimir Putin had been informed of the arrest of the Deputy Defense Minister, and Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu had been previously notified.

Deputy Defense Minister Timur Ivanov, who had been previously detained according to the investigative committee, is suspected of receiving a bribe of no less than one million rubles. Who is Timur Ivanov?

Born on August 15, 1975, in Moscow, Ivanov graduated from the Faculty of Computer Mathematics at Moscow State University in 1997.
From 1997 to 1999, he held senior positions in commercial organizations.
From 1999 to 2002, he worked as a management advisor for nuclear facility construction at the Ministry of Atomic Energy.
From 2002 to 2006, he served as an advisor to the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Rosenergoatom.
From 2006 to 2010, he held the positions of Vice President and then First Deputy Chairman of CJSC Atomstroyexport.
From 2010 to 2012, he was responsible for the energy efficiency working group within the government committee of the fuel and energy complex.
From March 2013 to May 2016, he served as the General Director of JSC Oboronstroy.
In May 2016, he was appointed Deputy Defense Minister, responsible for organizing property management, military housing, and medical support.
