“Samsung” Accelerates Its Activity in Generative AI Despite Employee Strike

FALCON POWERS – Samsung, which has resumed leading global smartphone sales, is ignoring the unprecedented and “indefinite” strike announced by its employees’ union in South Korea, to accelerate its activity in the field of generative artificial intelligence through new tools integrated into its various products.

During a conference held on Wednesday in Paris, representatives of the company did not want to respond to a question raised by the AFP agency about the strike that began on Monday after failed negotiations on wages and social benefits, but rather remained committed to talking about artificial intelligence. After launching its strategy in this field in January by integrating its “Galaxy AI” tools into its new “S24” smartphones, the company will expand the integration of these tools to include various products, from wireless helmets to smart watches.

In an interview with AFP, TM Roh, head of the company’s mobile division, said, “When we launched the S24, we announced that Galaxy AI will be integrated into 100 million devices by the end of the year. But the progress has accelerated in this regard, and we can now confirm that Galaxy AI will be available in 200 million devices by the end of the year.” Generative artificial intelligence has invaded the world in 2023 and sparked a fierce race between major tech companies.

TM Roh said, “At Samsung Mobile, more than a billion dollars are being invested in the development and enhancement of artificial intelligence,” adding, “At the parent company Samsung Electronics, much higher amounts are allocated for investment in resources dedicated to artificial intelligence,” without providing further details.
