Saudi Arabia records a 4.7 magnitude earthquake in the Red Sea

FALCON POWERS – The Saudi Geological Survey announced today, Saturday, that earthquake monitoring stations recorded an earthquake in the middle of the Red Sea.

The authority said on its website that the earthquake occurred 161 kilometers west of Leith Governorate, which is affiliated with the Makkah region, at exactly 12:09 am today.

It added that the earthquake measured 4.7 on the Richter scale, and its center was at a depth of about 10.4 kilometers.

Earlier today, the United States Geological Survey had reported recording two earthquakes in the Red Sea region. The US agency said on its website that the first quake measured 4.7 on the Richter scale and was about 197 kilometers northeast of the Sudanese city of Tokar.

As for the second quake, it measured 4.2 on the Richter scale and was about 174 kilometers northeast of the same city.
