SD Stands Firmly with Leader Accused of “Islamophobia” in Sweden

FALCON POWERS – The Sweden Democrats (SD) announced their full support for Richard Jomshof, who faces charges of incitement to hatred for posting satirical images about Islam.

In a supportive move, party leader Mattias Karlsson reposted the same controversial images as a public show of solidarity with his colleague.

Karlsson wrote on platform X: “If anyone wants to report me for sharing these images in support of Richard, feel free.” This statement reflects the party’s stance on the issue, as its leaders believe that current laws regarding incitement to hatred restrict freedom of expression. According to sources within the party, Jomshof has full backing, as the party is dissatisfied with existing incitement legislation. It is also expected that Jomshof will be summoned for questioning, but estimates suggest that the case will be closed quickly.

Karlsson criticized the Swedish judicial system, pointing out that figures who created controversial cartoons about Islam, such as those from “Jyllands-Posten” and “Charlie Hebdo,” did not face the same legal repercussions that Jomshof is encountering today.

He added, “If these actions are valid, then many artists who have produced controversial works against various religions should be prosecuted; otherwise, it would be a restriction on freedom of expression.”

Karlsson concluded by reposting the images that led to the charges against Jomshof, expressing his concerns about the impact of these actions on democracy and freedom of expression in Sweden.
