FALCON POWRS – A sergeant in the Public Safety Department at the City University of New York told pro-Palestine protesters “I support genocide”, in a statement that was recorded and widely shared on social media.
The verbal confrontation occurred yesterday, Thursday, on the Staten Island campus. The video shows a sergeant identified as Donald Jerrard, who when told by a protester “You support genocide”, replied “Yes, I do.”
The protester said “You support genocide!”, to which Jerrard responded “I support genocide. I support killing you all.”
When the protester said that Jerrard’s statement was being recorded on video, he cursed at the protester. A spokesperson for the College of Staten Island told the Daily News: “We condemn the offensive language used by an officer at the City University of New York during a wonderful graduation ceremony celebrating our 2,000 graduates. His words do not reflect the values of the College of Staten Island or our 50-person public safety team,” stating that Jerrard was suspended pending a review of the incident.
