Spanish Prime Minister: Indications in Europe for Readiness to Recognize a Palestinian State

Falcon powers –  Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has affirmed the existence of “clear indications” in Europe that countries on the continent are ready to recognize a Palestinian state.

During a joint press conference with his Norwegian counterpart Jonas Gahr Støre on Friday, Sanchez stated that there are indications in Europe pointing to the readiness of countries to recognize a Palestinian state.

“We are ready to recognize a Palestinian state as soon as possible, with full membership in the United Nations,” Sanchez said during the conference.

He emphasized the need for an urgent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and allowing humanitarian institutions to operate without any threats, stating that “further violence and the killing of civilians in Gaza cannot be allowed.”

Meanwhile, the Norwegian Prime Minister confirmed that Norway is ready to recognize a Palestinian state and support its membership in the United Nations.

Last month, Spain, Ireland, Malta, and Slovenia announced that they would work collectively towards recognizing the Palestinian state.
