Swedish Minister of Migration: If a Person Says They Are a Woman, They Are a Woman Even If They Are Biologically Male

FALCON POWERS – Maria Malmer Stenergard, the Swedish Minister of Migration, has stated her support for a new law on gender reassignment that allows individuals, both adults and minors, to change their gender identity. She emphasized that if a person says they are a woman, they should be recognized and treated as such, even if they are biologically male, in an interview with Kvaratal.

The minister further explained that while the law has sparked controversy and faced opposition, it ultimately passed with a “yes” vote in the Swedish parliament. She asserted that it is important to end the debate and grant everyone the right to express their gender identity and change their gender whenever they choose.

When asked if a man could take advantage of the new law to register as a woman without undergoing any physical changes, the Swedish minister responded that if the person in question identifies as a woman, then they are a woman. She affirmed that she would respect their desire to be considered a woman and address them by the name they prefer, regardless of their biological body and appearance. The minister emphasized that it is about showing respect for the individual’s self-identification as a woman.
