FALCON POWERS – The Arab Summit called for the deployment of an international force in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank until a political process is launched that leads to the implementation of the two-state solution.
In the final communique of the summit held in Bahrain, the heads of state called on the UN Security Council to provide a timeline for enhancing the establishment of the Palestinian state on the 1967 borders. They also called for convening an international conference to resolve the Palestinian issue, to the extent that the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman called for the establishment of the Palestinian state and for it to be recognized by the countries of the world.
In the statement, which did not propose the introduction of an Arab force into the Gaza Strip, the countries called for an immediate ceasefire, the withdrawal of the Israeli army from all areas of the Strip, and the provision of humanitarian aid.
The statement called on all Palestinian factions to come under the umbrella of the Palestine Liberation Organization, which it considered the sole legitimate representative of the Palestinian people.
The Arab summit leaders called for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, and they condemned “in the strongest terms the continued Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and the crimes committed against the civilian population of the Palestinian people, and the unprecedented Israeli violations of international law and international humanitarian law.”
They condemned “the targeting of civilians and civilian facilities, the use of the weapon of siege and starvation, and attempts at forced displacement, which have resulted in the killing and injury of tens of thousands of innocent Palestinians.”
They also condemned “the extension of the Israeli aggression to the Palestinian city of Rafah, which has become a haven for more than a million displaced people, and the resulting disastrous humanitarian consequences.”
They expressed “condemnation of the control of the Israeli occupation forces over the Palestinian side of the Rafah crossing, which aims to tighten the siege on civilians, leading to the suspension of the crossing’s operation and the flow of humanitarian aid”.
In this context, the Arab summit leaders called for “stopping all attempts at forced displacement, ending all forms of siege, and allowing full and sustainable access of humanitarian aid to the sector, and the immediate withdrawal of Israel from Rafah”.
They also expressed their “strong condemnation of the targeting of the Israeli occupation forces of humanitarian and United Nations organizations in the Gaza Strip, and impeding their work”.
They urged for “an immediate international investigation into the attacks on aid convoys to the Gaza Strip, including the attacks of Israeli extremists on Jordanian aid convoys (heading to Gaza), and the failure of the Israeli authorities to fulfill their legal responsibilities to provide protection for these convoys”.
They stressed the necessity for “the international community and influential international powers to transcend political calculations and double standards in dealing with international crises, and to assume their responsibilities to confront the Israeli aggressive practices, and to clearly describe them as a flagrant violation of international law and international humanitarian law.”
