The “Israeli” Port of Eilat Officially Declares Bankruptcy and Ceases Operations Due to Houthi “Yemen” Attacks

Falcon powers – The Israeli port of Eilat, one of Israel’s largest ports, located in the southernmost city of Eilat, has officially declared bankruptcy after more than eight months of complete paralysis in its commercial activity due to attacks by the Yemeni Houthi group in the Red Sea.

Although the Arab media did not report the news, international broadcasters covered the story, shocking Israeli citizens.

The port’s CEO, Gideon Golbert, stated that the port has not seen any activity or revenue during the past eight months since the Houthis of Yemen began targeting the port and maritime navigation.

He pointed out that the Houthis’ blockade of the Red Sea has led to a 85% drop in shipping traffic.

Golbert explained that this sharp decline has resulted in massive losses for the port, forcing it to request financial assistance from the Israeli government to cover its expenses and avoid final closure.
The port of Eilat is considered one of the most important Israeli ports on the Red Sea and represents a major gateway for trade with Asia and Africa.

The announcement of the bankruptcy of the Port of Eilat revealed the impact of the Houthi attacks on the Israeli economy, as the group, since the outbreak of the Israeli war in the Gaza Strip, has been attacking Israeli ships passing through the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.

These attacks have expanded to include foreign ships heading to Israeli ports and ships of companies dealing with Israel.

On the other hand, local media reports indicated that the Israeli police closed the entrances to the city of Eilat overlooking the Gulf of Aqaba on Tuesday, and set up military barriers on the roads leading to the city, fearing infiltration operations.

The army also asked citizens to avoid passing through those roads leading to the coastal city in the south of the country.
