The Retired National Security Council Official in Israel: Our Strategic Approach Failed in the War on Gaza… And Will Not Succeed

FALCON POWERS – The Israeli media reported that Yoram Hamo, the official responsible for security policy and strategic planning in the Israeli National Security Council, who had announced his resignation last week, prepared an official document that he reviewed before the relevant authorities. In it, he stressed that “Israel’s strategic approach failed in the (Gaza) war, and cannot succeed.”

According to the Haaretz newspaper, Hamo presented the document he prepared to the “War Cabinet,” while Channel 12 reported that the former official presented the report he prepared to the National Security Council attached to the Prime Minister’s Office; and he stressed that continuing the war with the same current Israeli approach will lead to “attrition of military achievements.”

The report of the retiring official stated that “continuing the war with the same current approach may lead to further erosion of achievements”; and Haaretz quoted senior officials in the War Cabinet who were briefed on the document, saying they got the impression that the outgoing Deputy Head of the National Security Council “supports ending the war on the Gaza Strip at this stage.”
