Lebanon and Gaza War

The White House: What is happening in Gaza is not “genocide”

FALCON POWERS – US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan stated on Monday that the Biden administration does not consider the killing of Palestinians in Gaza by Israel during its conflict with Hamas as “genocide.”

Sullivan, speaking to reporters at the White House, said that the United States wants to see Hamas defeated, adding that the Palestinians caught in the midst of the war are facing hell.

He further stated that any major military operation carried out by Israel in Rafah would be a mistake.

The US National Security Advisor said, “The United States is still urgently working to reach a ceasefire and a deal for a prisoner exchange.”

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken had warned on Sunday that a broad Israeli attack on Rafah would sow “chaos” without eliminating Hamas, acknowledging that the number of civilian casualties in the war exceeds the number of casualties among the Palestinian movement. Blinken, in an interview with NBC, believed that the current plan being considered by Israel in Rafah “could cause immense harm to civilians without solving the problem.”

He continued to say, “Thousands of armed elements from Hamas will remain,” even with an attack in Rafah.
