FALCON POWERS – An Iranian source told the Lebanese Al-Mayadeen channel that the killing of the Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh was done by a missile launched from another country and not from within Iran.
The source said: “The killing of Haniyeh by a missile from outside means an aggression against Iran and requires an inevitable response.”
Iranian media reported on Wednesday that “the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh took place around 2 am Iran time, and he was staying in a special headquarters for veterans in Tehran.” Meanwhile, reports revealed that the Secretary-General of the Islamic Jihad Movement, Ziad al-Nakhalah, was residing on the second floor of the same building where Haniyeh was staying. The official Iranian media reported that Haniyeh resided in a “special residence” designated for “war heroes.”
Hamas officially announced on Wednesday morning the martyrdom of the movement’s leader Ismail Haniyeh in the Iranian capital Tehran.
Earlier, Iranian media, quoting the Revolutionary Guard, reported that Haniyeh and one of his personal guards were martyred in an attack on the house they were staying in in Tehran.
Haniyeh, the head of Hamas’s political bureau, visited Tehran to participate in the inauguration ceremony of the new Iranian president, which was held yesterday. Saudi media reported that Haniyeh was assassinated in his bedroom by a guided missile fired at around 2 am Tehran time.
According to Iranian news agencies, Haniyeh’s headquarters was targeted by a projectile launched from the air. They added: “Further investigations are underway to determine the circumstances of this terrorist operation, such as the location from which the projectile was launched.”
