Two Israeli soldiers killed in a ramming attack southwest of Nablus

FALCON POWERS – Two Israeli soldiers were killed as a result of being hit in a ramming attack carried out late Wednesday evening southeast of Nablus. The perpetrator then fled the scene, and Israeli army forces launched a search operation to find him.

Local sources said the operation was carried out at the Awarta checkpoint south-east of Nablus, noting that the perpetrator attacked the occupation soldiers with his vehicle, knocking down two of them, before reversing back over them at the checkpoint.

An Israeli medical team that arrived at the scene of the ramming attack said: “We were told at the scene that two passersby had been hit and as a result they suffered critical and serious injuries.”

The team added: “We provided assistance at the scene to one of the injured, whose condition is currently critical, and another injured person was evacuated from the scene in a serious condition.”

In contrast, the head of the northern West Bank settlements, Yossi Dagan, said in a statement: “The ramming attack occurred near a security checkpoint south of Nablus, and the two injured are soldiers.”

Later, Israeli media outlets reported the death of the two injured in the ramming attack near Nablus.

The Hebrew website Hadshot confirmed that the two killed in the ramming attack were soldiers.

Israeli army forces, including special units and air support, launched a search operation for the perpetrator of the attack, who reports indicate managed to withdraw and head towards Nablus.

In the same context, local sources confirmed that “the occupation forces had stormed Rujayib Street east of the city of Nablus and the entrance to the town of Awarta south of Nablus.”
