U.S. Central Command: 4 Vessels Damaged on Gaza Coasts

FALCON POWERS – The U.S. Central Command announced today, Saturday, that 4 U.S. Navy vessels working on a humanitarian support mission in Gaza were damaged this morning due to weather conditions, with no reported injuries.

The Command said in a statement: “4 U.S. Navy vessels on a humanitarian support mission in Gaza were damaged this morning by weather conditions, with the third and fourth vessels currently on the beach in Israel off Ashdod.”

The statement added that “efforts are underway to recover the vessels with the assistance of the Israeli Navy, and there are no reports of injuries.”

Israeli Channel 12 reported on Saturday morning that the waves had washed away a portion of the American floating dock off Gaza to the shores of Ashdod city, noting that the Israeli Navy had returned it and tied it back.

After months of preparations and at an expected cost of up to $320 million, the American naval dock that provides a new route for the flow of humanitarian aid to Palestinians in the Gaza Strip was inaugurated last week.
