Ukraine Passes Legislation to Ban Russian-Affiliated Orthodox Church on its Territory

FALCON POWERS – Ukrainian lawmakers passed a bill on Tuesday that paves the way for banning the Ukrainian Orthodox Church affiliated with Russia, according to deputies.

The legislation prohibits the presence of the Russian Orthodox Church on Ukrainian territory and provides for the imposition of a ban on religious organizations “affiliated” with it. The ban will be imposed by a court decision.

Kyiv considers the Ukrainian Orthodox Church historically linked to Russia as a hotbed of Russian influence and says it is complicit in the country’s full-scale invasion.
