United Nations General Assembly Adopts Resolution to Enhance Palestinian Representation with Majority of 143 Countries

Falcon powers – The United Nations General Assembly began discussions on a new resolution presented by the Arab Group, chaired by the United Arab Emirates for this month, calling on the Security Council to reconsider the issue of recognizing Palestine as a fully-fledged member state on par with other nations. The resolution received support from 143 countries, with 9 countries voting against it and 25 countries abstaining.

The representative of the United Arab Emirates read the draft resolution, stating that its main objective is to urge the Security Council to review the recognition of the state of Palestine, which was vetoed by the United States.

He emphasized that the Palestinian people have suffered immense injustice for over seven decades and that now countries are called upon to choose to stand for justice and international law, exerting pressure on the Security Council to revisit the issue of recognizing Palestine’s full membership. “Adopting this resolution means rectifying the historical injustice inflicted upon the Palestinian people.

Voting against it means giving Israel the green light to continue its aggression against the Palestinian people,” he added.
