US Veto against Palestinian Membership in the United Nations

FALCONPOWERS – The United States exercised its veto power in the United Nations Security Council on Thursday to prevent the issuance of a resolution that would pave the way for granting full membership to the State of Palestine in the United Nations.

The resolution, presented by Algeria, “recommends the General Assembly to accept the State of Palestine as a member of the United Nations.” It was supported by 12 members and opposed by the United States. Two members abstained from voting.
