FALCON POWERS – Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro confirmed on Sunday that Corey Camperatore (50 years old) died a hero, as he used his body as a shield to protect his wife and daughter from gunfire during the attack on former President Donald Trump.
Shapiro said: “His wife told me that he threw himself on top of his family to protect them,” as reported by the Associated Press.
Two other people were also injured during the attempted assassination of Trump during a crowded event on Saturday in Butler County, Pennsylvania.
While law enforcement officials have refrained from disclosing any details about the other victims, U.S. Representative from Texas Ronny Jackson said in a Sunday statement that his nephew was injured but “his injuries were not serious thankfully.” Jackson said: “My family was sitting in the front, near where the president (former Trump) was speaking, they heard gunshots, and then my nephew realized his neck was covered in blood and something had scratched and injured his neck, and he was treated by medics in the medical tent.”
The Secret Service clarified that they shot and killed the suspected gunman, who had launched the attack from an elevated position outside the event site.
