Falconpowers- The spokesperson for the US State Department, Matthew Miller, said on Monday that the United States was not informed about the date of the Israeli invasion of Rafah in southern Gaza.
This statement came after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed the scheduling of the operation.
Miller added that Washington never wants to see a large-scale invasion of Rafah, which is the last refuge for displaced Palestinians in Gaza.
Earlier in the day, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that an agreement had already been reached on the timing of the Israeli army’s entry into the city of Rafah in the Gaza Strip.
Netanyahu clarified in his speech that “victory over Hamas requires entering Rafah and eliminating the terrorist brigades there.
” He emphasized that his country is constantly working to achieve its goals, including the release of all hostages and achieving a complete victory over Hamas.
The United States has been pressuring Israel for weeks to deter it from launching a ground invasion of Rafah, as the population has increased to one and a half million people, according to the United Nations, with the influx of displaced persons from the destroyed areas in the north and center.
The concern is that a humanitarian catastrophe may occur, but these efforts have been unsuccessful.
