We Shot Down a US MQ-9 Drone in Marib

FALCON POWERS – The Ansar Allah movement in Yemen (the Houthis) announced that they shot down an American MQ-9 drone at dawn on Wednesday while it was carrying out hostile missions in the airspace of Marib Governorate.

The Houthi military spokesman, Brigadier General Yahya Sarie, said: “In victory for the injustice suffered by the Palestinian people and in response to the American-British aggression on our country… the air defense forces of the Yemeni armed forces, with God’s help, succeeded at dawn today, Wednesday, in shooting down an American MQ-9 drone while it was carrying out hostile missions in the airspace of Marib Governorate.”

He added: “The targeting operation was carried out with a locally-manufactured surface-to-air missile, and the footage of the downing will be distributed shortly, God willing.” He continued: “The Yemeni armed forces confirm that the operation to shoot down the drone comes just days after the downing of another drone of the same type in the airspace of Al-Bayda Governorate, and this is the sixth drone of this type that has been shot down during the Battle of the Promised Conquest and the Holy Jihad in support of the Palestinian people.”

Sarie said: “The Yemeni armed forces, with God’s help, continue to develop their defensive capabilities to confront the American-British aggression and all hostile forces, and to continue the victory for the oppressed Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip until the aggression is stopped and the siege is lifted.”

It is worth noting that the Houthis in Yemen have been carrying out attacks in the Red Sea on Israeli ships or those heading to Israel since last November, “in support and victory for the Palestinian people and Gaza.”

They had previously announced the start of the fourth phase of escalation against ships “to the Mediterranean Sea” in order to support the Palestinians in Gaza.

In response, the United States and its allies formed a military force to deal with Houthi attacks, with American and British planes launching several strikes on various areas of Yemen, while the US military carries out separate missions from any naval coalition in the region.
