Falcon powers – Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Russia will respond to White House statements about increasing the nuclear arsenal in accordance with its nuclear doctrine.
In response to a journalist’s question on this matter, Zakharova said: “The President (Putin) said yesterday that we have a nuclear doctrine. And if there is a need to update it, amendments will be made to it.
There are appropriate arsenals. And I think this was the White House’s reaction to questions from its audience about why the United States has fewer of these arsenals.”
She added that the United States, in her view, does not understand what it is talking about and why.
She continued: “But the most important thing is that they always use words associated with Russia to build some of their own concepts. And they always use the topic of Russia somehow to solve their domestic problems. What does this mean? In my opinion, this indicates their internal inferiority.”
Zakharova concluded by saying that the American authorities should announce such matters regarding their national interests and not based on a momentary political information position.
Earlier, the White House announced the need to increase its nuclear arsenal. This statement came immediately after Russian President Vladimir Putin’s speech at the St.
Petersburg International Economic Forum, where he said that Russia’s tactical nuclear weapons are four times stronger than those used by the United States to bomb Japan.
