The United States Announces Outbreak of Deadly “Spinning Sickness” in 12 States

FALCON POWERS – The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has announced the spread of Listeriosis, also known as Spinning Sickness (Listeria), in 12 states at the same time.

The center stated in its statement that two people had died from the disease, and 28 others had been hospitalized.

The statement indicated that the actual number of cases of the disease may be higher. According to it, most of the infected people had consumed meat products, including bologna and sausages, but so far there is no confirmation that this is the actual cause.

Earlier in Canada, two people died and nine others were hospitalized. It was pointed out that all the infected had consumed carbonated beverages of plant origin.

Infection causing this disease is usually transmitted to the human body by consuming food contaminated with the Listeria monocytogenes bacterium (vegetables and animal products), which causes acute gastrointestinal disorders and affects the nervous system, and can cause meningitis, encephalitis, and death.

At risk are people over the age of 60, pregnant women, newborns, and those with weakened immune systems.
