FALCON POWERS – Adult film star Stormy Daniels testified in the criminal trial of former US President Donald Trump on Tuesday, stating that he had engaged in sexual intercourse with her in his hotel suite in 2006. Daniels (45 years old) said she met Trump at a golf tournament near Lake Tahoe. At the time, Trump, a New York real estate mogul, was hosting the popular reality TV show “The Apprentice.”
Daniels testified on Tuesday that she “lost consciousness” after Trump prevented her from leaving the room, despite not consuming any drugs or alcohol. She woke up on the bed, naked, and described the sexual encounter with Trump, saying, “I was staring at the ceiling and didn’t know how I ended up there. I was trying to think of anything else but what was happening.”
Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, stated that she did not ask Trump to stop and said, “I didn’t say anything at all.” She mentioned that she quickly left the hotel room afterward.
There has been no response from Trump, who served as the President of the United States from 2017 to 2021 and was the Republican candidate for the presidency this year, as he continues to follow her testimony.
Trump denies having had sex with Daniels, and his defense team claims that she was seeking a role on “The Apprentice.”
The alleged encounter ultimately led to a criminal trial for Trump, making him the first former US President to face such charges.
Trump (77 years old) is accused of falsifying business records to conceal a $130,000 payment to Daniels for her silence during the 2016 election. The Republican politician maintains his innocence and argues that the trial is an attempt to impede his bid to return to the White House, where he would compete against Democratic President Joe Biden in the November 5th elections. Daniels testified that Trump’s personal bodyguard asked her to join Trump for dinner.
She initially refused but changed her mind after being persuaded by a publicist that the dinner could be the start of a great story.
When she arrived at his hotel suite, Trump greeted her wearing only silk pajamas.
Daniels, dressed in black attire and black glasses, mentioned that she was irritated by Trump’s condescending attitude and asked him, “Are you always so arrogant and egotistical?”
She stated that he asked her to spank him, and she complied with his request.
Trump, who was sitting in the defendant’s section, appeared to say, “This is nonsense.”
The alleged encounter occurred while Trump was married to his current wife, Melania. Trump denies having had any sexual relationship with Daniels.
During the testimony, Trump handed a note to his defense lawyer, occasionally closing his eyes.
After the break, Judge Juan Mercante asked the prosecutors not to delve into the details of the encounter, stating, “The level of detail we are discussing is unnecessary.” Mercante had previously allowed Daniels to inform the jurors about her sexual encounter with Trump, despite objections from Trump’s legal team.
Prosecutor Susan Hovinga stated that the testimony was necessary to complete the story and establish Daniels’ credibility.
Trump faces 34 criminal charges of falsifying business records.
Prosecutors claim that Trump falsely classified payments to his lawyer Michael Cohen in 2017 as legal expenses when, in fact, they were intended to reimburse the $130,000 payment Cohen made to Daniels.
Prosecutors argue that this constitutes an illegal attempt to influence the 2016 election by purchasing the silence of individuals with potentially damaging information.
While this case is seen as less significant than three other criminal trials Trump faces, it is the only one that the judiciary is expected to address prior to the elections.
The other cases accuse Trump of attempting to overturn his 2020 presidential defeat and mishandling classified documents after leaving office. Trump maintains his innocence in all three cases.
